3 Easy Coffee Dessert Recipes Made with Desincoffee

3 Easy Coffee Dessert Recipes Made with Desincoffee

When the afternoon slump hits and you want something sweet, coffee is usually the first thing you reach for. So why not put it in dessert? These three coffee dessert recipes each use one scoop of Desincoffee, a few everyday ingredients and very little time.

There's a frozen caramel popsicle for the warmer days ahead, a vanilla hazelnut cupcake you can make in the air fryer, and a chocolate espresso mousse that's ready in five minutes. Each one uses a different Desincoffee flavour, and all three work as a daytime snack or a treat before or after training.

If you've been searching for healthy coffee dessert recipes, you'll notice these keep the ingredient list short and familiar: fruit, eggs, oats, milk and one scoop of Performance Coffee.

  • Chocolate Espresso Mousse: Extreme Espresso flavour, 5 minutes plus cooling
Caramel coffee popsicle made with Desincoffee

Caramel Coffee Popsicles for Warmer Days

Spring is here and summer is close behind. As the days warm up, a hot coffee can start to feel like too much. These popsicles give you the same caramel coffee flavour in a form that suits a 30-degree afternoon.

Frozen banana does the heavy lifting. It blends into a thick, creamy base, so you get an ice cream texture without an ice cream maker. If you're after coffee ice cream dessert recipes with five minutes of hands-on time, start here.

Flavour used: Desincoffee Caramel Macchiato
Makes: 2 medium sized popsicles
Prep: 5 minutes | Freeze: 4 to 6 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop (10g) Desincoffee Caramel Macchiato
  • 100g frozen banana
  • 30ml plant-based milk of your choice

Method

  1. Add the frozen banana, Desincoffee and milk to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as you go. If it's too thick to blend, add a little more milk, one teaspoon at a time.
  3. Pour into popsicle moulds and insert the sticks.
  4. Freeze for 4 to 6 hours, or overnight.
  5. To release, run the moulds under warm water for a few seconds.
  6. Drizzle caramel sauce or top it with sea salt for extra oomph (yumm!)

Make it your way: Eat it straight from the blender as soft serve, or try Vanilla Latte for a lighter coffee flavour.

Vanilla hazelnut coffee cupcake topped with blueberries and almonds

Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee Cupcake in 10 Minutes

A single-serve coffee cupcake topped with blueberries and almonds. (Perfect pre-workout snack!)

Some coffee dessert recipes are best served warm. This single-serve cupcake comes together in one bowl with pantry staples, then cooks in the air fryer while you tidy up.

The egg and oats give it a soft, cake-like texture. Vanilla Hazelnut Desincoffee adds sweetness and a gentle coffee flavour, so there's no need to add sugar.

Flavour used: Desincoffee Vanilla Hazelnut
Serves: 1
Prep: 2 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes in the air fryer or 3 minutes in the microwave

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • A splash of milk (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 scoop (10g) Desincoffee Vanilla Hazelnut
  • A small handful of blueberries
  • A few almonds, flaked or roughly chopped

Method

  1. Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk.
  2. Add the oats and milk and mix well.
  3. Stir in the Desincoffee until there are no dry lumps.
  4. Pour into a greased ramekin or oven-safe cup, then top with blueberries and almonds.
  5. Air fry at 180°C for 10 minutes, or microwave for about 3 minutes. It's ready when the centre springs back when you press it.

Tip: Microwaves vary, so check at the 2-minute mark. For a fluffier crumb, blitz the oats into flour before mixing.

Chocolate coffee mousse made with Desincoffee Extreme Espresso

5-Minute Coffee Mousse with Extreme Espresso

Chocolate espresso mousse made with Desincoffee Extreme Espresso. (Super creaaamyyy)

This one is for when you want something rich and chocolatey. It's thick enough to hold a spoon, takes about five minutes on the stove, and makes a good mid-morning treat or snack before or after training. As coffee mousse dessert recipes go, it's one of the simplest: four ingredients and one saucepan. Like the popsicles, it belongs with the no bake coffee dessert recipes, because there's no oven involved.

Flavour used: Desincoffee Extreme Espresso
Serves: 1 to 2
Time: 5 minutes plus cooling

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop (10g) Desincoffee Extreme Espresso
  • 200ml milk of your choice
  • 1 sachet sugar-free chocolate pudding mix
  • ½ tbsp (about 5g) cocoa powder

Method

  1. Add everything to a small saucepan and whisk before heating, so the powders don't clump.
  2. Stir constantly over low heat until thick and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Take it off the heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Enjoy it warm, or spoon it into a glass and chill it in the fridge.

Make it your way: Extreme Espresso gives the mousse a deeper coffee flavour. For something softer, use a chocolate flavour such as Swiss Chocolate.

Coffee Dessert Recipes: Your Questions Answered

What type of coffee is best for baking?

Instant coffee or espresso powder is usually the easiest option. It dissolves quickly and gives a concentrated flavour without adding extra liquid to your batter. Flavoured instant blends like Desincoffee also add sweetness, so you can often skip the added sugar.

Can you use regular coffee instead of instant coffee in baking?

Yes. Brewed coffee or espresso can replace some of the liquid in a recipe, though the flavour will be milder. Avoid adding coffee grounds straight to a batter, because they stay gritty after baking.

What can you bake with coffee?

Coffee works well in brownies, mug cakes, muffins, banana bread and cookies. It pairs especially well with chocolate, because it deepens the cocoa flavour. Most coffee dessert recipes need only a teaspoon or a scoop to make a difference.

What are some delicious desserts made with coffee?

Classic dessert recipes with coffee include tiramisu, affogato, coffee granita, mocha mousse and espresso brownies. For quicker options, the three recipes above take 10 minutes or less of hands-on time.

What is a quick no-bake dessert?

Mousse, frozen popsicles, overnight chia pudding and affogato are all quick no-bake desserts. The chocolate espresso mousse above is ready in about five minutes, and the caramel popsicles need only a blender and a freezer.

How do you drink Desincoffee?

Dissolve one 10g scoop in hot water. Use 100ml for a stronger espresso-style cup, or 150 to 200ml for a milder long coffee. For an iced version, mix it with cold water and pour it over ice. You can read how we fit it into our mornings in Coffee or Tea in the Morning? Why I Drink Both.

Can you use Desincoffee in desserts and baking?

Yes. It works in baking and frozen treats like the ones above, as well as in smoothies, overnight oats and ice cream.

How much Desincoffee can you have in a day?

Up to two servings of Desincoffee a day is recommended, and a dessert made with a scoop counts as one of those servings. Because these recipes contain caffeine, we recommend enjoying them earlier in the day rather than in the evening. They aren't suitable for children. If you're pregnant or sensitive to caffeine, check with your doctor first.

One scoop of Desincoffee goes a long way in the kitchen. Start with the recipe that suits your day: popsicles for a warm afternoon, the cupcake for a quick mid-morning bite, or the mousse before or after training.
